April 19, 2003, Cayuse Pass/ 410

Well, truth be told, we never actually strapped the skis on today as a late start for the Crystal area and rapidly warming temps turned our ski trip into a recon mission up 410. <br><br>The gate at the Crystal turn is open and the road is plowed up to Cayuse where it remains gated. There is plenty of snow on the ground at this elevation along with signs of wet loose snow slides in the area bowls. Temps around 11 a.m. were near 40 F. It appears that the road up to Chinook is bare and bike-able or hike-able. The gate up the White River Road is locked but also appears bike-able and should be bare beyond the entrance station and up toward Sunrise.<br><br>The fresh snow line appeared to be around 4,800 - 5,000 feet. The Fryingpan Glacier and base of Little "T" ducked in and out of the clouds as if to tease us. Now where is that bike pump....

I have moved this post out of the April TR board because, although it has very useful information, it is not a skiing TR, and there is now a skiing TR from the next day. I hope this is acceptable.

J.P. - no problem. It's a tough call, as it is nice to have that info right there in the active TR month, and that's why I try to leave posts like yours in place for a little while. The main reason for moving a post like yours is for future browsing, so a TR is truly a skiing TR.
