Dave, Adam and I had an outstanding day of skiing yesterday up Gold Creek Valley and on Chikamin Ridge. There was gobs of avi debris that had come down Alaska and Alta in days past, but we experienced stable, soft snow on all aspects, even the super steeps.

Sound travels well up that valley. At the base of Chikamin we could still hear the I-90 roar, and (what I'm assuming was) a DOT bomb was startling as it clamored up the valley walls.

Chikamin--wow. Big, open, wide, steep. Felt good to let 'em rip. Of course there are lots of tight shots to go hit on the ridge too.

Dave posted some more words and pictures here:

What route did you take out there? How long did it take out and back?

We just went straight up Gold Creek (starting from the cabins road a little East of the Snow Park). Left car at 5am and got back at 6pm. We skied some other stuff on the the way out to Chikamin, so hard to say how long to the base, but from the base of Chikamin back to the car took about 2--1/2 hours.

Nice work -- that creek crossing photo in the cc.com thread looks sporty!
