Feb 1-4, Scottish Lakes High Camp

Took an 8 PM car & snomo ride in w/ Lisa for 3 nights at this nice set of BC cabins.  dkoelle sez the ride makes it lift-served,but we did  3 days of tours & turns. 
Friday:  7 of us did the McCue Ridge loop, in warm conditions w/great views of Chiwaukums but rough snow-breakable crust, hardpack, frozen tracks.  Thanks Walter for getting us to the true High Point.  8) Down the ridge to Wild Bill Hill was good if you stayed right /south and got onto corny mush.  We did a couple laps on the Chiwaukum Creek side opposite Wild Bill.
Sat:  toured into Lake Julius and above, mostly rolling.  An early start makes this good access to higher, steeper slopes.  Dug a pit beow some water-ice climbs above the lake, NWish near some old wet-slide debrisat about 5300'.  It was very consolidated; tough shoveling with no weaknesses down to a badly decomposed layer at about 30".  A shovel shear broke instantly when inserted, but at a steep jagged anglecutting through most of the column depth.  Some blowing snowfall; it rained at the 5000' cabins. Best snow was on the E gentle bowl back to camp that had softened just right.
Sun:  I actually packed first for once and took a quick lap up Wild Bill, which had not hardened overnight.  We skied out to the
driver pickup point, 1900' plus of cutting the snowmobile road's switchbacks.  Good corn below camp, then increasing mank but steeper. 
This was a fine "F%*& the Super Bowl" trip.  You do your own cooking; for a fee they will drive you in with as many skis, coolers, clothes and toys as you like.  Good cabins, lots of varied terrain.  Reservations are hard to come by.
