Broke trail through Nordic Pass in 4-6 inches powder over rain crust. For better or worse someone has marked part of the route with yellow tape. After topping out Ollalie meadows and stepping around the corner, I picked up a trough left by a large group of snow shoe folks. Where'd they come from...Lake Annette? The trough took off shortly up to the NW ridge, presumably to summit, while I continued up the main NW valley to the treed knoll in the upper bowl circa 5000 feet. The top part had a pronounced, fragile rain crust with variable, windblown snow on top. Down was fun, with predictable boot-top powder in the gentle glades and meadows.
