Woo Hoo!  A call to Park Service Communications over breakfast revealed the gate would be open at 8:00, and sure enough, we sailed right through without even slowing down at Longmire.
With the last few days having warmed the snowpack, especially south facing, we opted to ski the north facing slopes of the Tatoosh.  It was fairly decent skiing higher up and got a little slushy the lower we got as this shot of Darryl exemplifies:

The highlight of the day was when, coming down Narada face, Darryl kicked loose a pinwheel.  It continued to build, unbeknownst to him, as he skied down ahead of it groovin' with these cool GS tele turns, until, much to his surprise, he ran head on into his own, by then chest high, death cookie, which abruptly knocked him over.  He swears that Maureen kicked it down on him, but we all know better.
Unfortunately I didn't get a shot of the collision, but I did get a shot of the pinwheel rolling down as he is about to turn into it.
