Snow shows wind damage above the trees, but when you stay in the trees it's quite nice.  The hill below the lodge got some activity from snowboarders, but it was in great shape when I ended the day with a couple of runs.  Ranger said avalanche hazard was moderate, I did a ruschblock on a windward south side slope and it was a #6. I usually head out to the top of Hurricane Hill and take it from there - ski the SE face right below the summit, maybe the N face.  Today the murk prevented that, so I stayed in the trees on the SE side of the hill and was able to find some really decent long slopes with widely space trees.  Today the road was open and sanded before 8:30 am!
Can't beat the combination: road open early, 16" cold powder on 10 foot base, the poma wasn't open but the cat track was in making skinning a breeze, and where was everybody? I had first tracks every run. I found you could go very low and the conditions were still great plus the visibility was better. Euphoric!
