Preston and I had a some time, and wanted to explore a new area. Since B.C. and Washington seemed to have had the best early season, we headed north.
Day 1:
On our first day out we decided to do something close to get a feel for the area and snow, so we headed up Grizzly Shoulder. The last big dump was on Xmas so we were surprised that the pow was still blower. While we were standing around deciding where to drop in, we saw some brave folks drop into the huge couloir at the top of
Day 2:
We got an early start and headed for the Asulkan Cabin.
We stopped at the hut for a quick lunch and gaped at the amazing views before continuing up.
Dreading crevasses ahead on the Asulkan Glacier and what we thought would be a long skin out down the relatively flat valley we turned around at 8,000 ft around noon. Nice turns were had, even with a little wind crust in spots. As we descended past the hut
A long skin through tight trees took us into another huge bowl. We did a 1,000 ft lap as the light went flat. These were arguably the best turns of the trip. From less than half way down, we watched a group of seven and a dog drop in above us, so we tried to make quick work of the pillows
......and then the cliffs. We booted out about 100 ft of flats to the highway for the short walk back to the car.
Day 4:
We took a quick ride down from somewhere close to
Nice report Alex, thanks. Rogers Pass sure is great, but darn that drive....thanks for reminding me about that price to be paid for the goods, which appear to have been Very Good for you two!

We made it to the border after about 8 hours of the most hellish driving I've ever seen......the drive home was by far the most dangerous part of the trip.

Nice trip you guys. Liz and I decided the two days of driving weren't quite worth one day of skiing, but I'm reconsidering that decision given the way the snow looks in your pics.
