Skinned to the 4400 ft saddle above Alpental's Snow Lake looking for powder on the short north facing slope. Was surpised in more ways then one to find slabby, wind affected snow down to the lake. We set off 2 small avalanches on the way down to the lake. I was carried a short distance and partial buried by the slide I triggered. Be careful out there, slabs have formed at relatively low elevations above a nice sliding surface at moderate slope angles.

After Snow lake, we continued on to the West ridge of Snoqualmie Mtn. There we find nice snow among nicely spaced old forest down Alpental.
