After spending 2 days stuck in a car rather than having a nice easy flight to Denver for the holidays, I was ready to get out and sample some of the goods. We leave my brothers house at the mouth of Coal Creek Canyon and head up to Rollinsville. We expected sketchy conditions but we wanted to get out and get some sun. We arrived at the parking area to see this...

We skinned up the valley and found a little pitch to check out. The snow conditions were as scary as I have seen in a long time. 30-40inches of various storm layers laying a rotten layer of tg snow at the sfc. It was interesting to see this type of snowpack. We skied a small low angle slope and decided to stop and build a windbreak to have a safety meeting  ;)

It was a wonderful day of playing in the mountains and I can't wait to come back and ride this place when it wasn't so damn scary

Merry Christmas!
