Our plans quickly changed to something with trees when we saw how much snow was on the side of I90. The temp sign at top said 24 degrees and this gave us some hope that the snow was light and perhaps bonded. It was a slog up the ridge in the new snow. The Alpental Tribal Elders had the Mujahadeen dropping heavy artillary across the valley. We saw some sluffs from our snowshoe track so we figured it was getting bad and the snow still kept falling steady. We called it at treeline and rode down. The turns were really heavy and you had to keep on it. MW8 sent the first point release on a roll over, easily a foot crown, didn't go very far, but certainly eye opening. The open slopes would be off limits today for us. Lower down there were even natural releases caused just from the weight of new snow, or maybe from the concussion echo of the Alpental's shelling. All most all of the steep rollers from then on were releasing on our ski down. That was plenty enough excitement for us. Still a fun run but dangersigns are everywhere this morning. Take care out there everyone. Hope you get your power back tonight MW8.
RonL- don't know if it was you and your partner setting up the tracks across the gully from us (we were a party of 6 plus 1 four legged friend).  Our planned tour was changed as well to the trees below Bryant Peak - we found similar conditions to those you described.  A ski cut set off a nice soft slab on a steep section that was about 12" deep and ran for about 100 yards.  It did not slide on the crust mentioned in the avy reports but perhaps on the previous snowfall from Wed/Thurs?  On more gentle slopes we found good turns (enough for us to skin back up for another lap).  We saw several natural slides on higher elevation open slopes - so your warnings bear repeating...be careful!

Correct it was sliding on friday's snow, not the prior crust. We were out of there by 10am, turned around around 5k.
