March 8-9, 2003, Mountie's FT, Crystal Mt

Another weekend of "giving blood" and a great time was had by all.  With major recent snow fall (ah.. like 5 feet!)discouraging us from our usual Bullion Basin destination, a gaggle of students and instructors headed for the Crystal Mountain south back country for the annual overnight field trip for the Seattle Mountaineers Ski/Snowboard Mountaineering Course.
First order of business was the construction of snow shelters

which took the students most of the balance of the day,
while the instructors planned and readied a mock avalanche disaster, different beacon search areas, and mock tours and snow stability tests.
