Hiked up adjacent to the ski area yesterday for some turns. While copious snow depths are definitely lacking, sunshine was plentiful. As long as you picked your descents with care, the 24-30 inches of snow I found was enough, with the top foot being perfectly graduated powder topped with a few inches of very low density snow. I noticed no signs of instability, probably due to terrain anchors in the shallow pack. At one point I looked back at my tracks to see dust still hanging in the air 30 yards back. A beautiful day with great views and great snow.
