For Amar's 60th consecutive month, decided to head to Muir for the 2nd time in a month. Nice to run into Jerry, Ron and Jeanette who were out for October turns. Conditions from Pebble Creek to Muir were worse than 1 month ago at this time. Nonetheless, you could skin continuously from Pebble Creek, heading well skier's left of the main climbing route up the snowfield (that is, over approx. 10 feet of rock). Many more patches of dirty snow were prevalent compared to 1 month ago, particularly on the large roll below Anvil Rock. The recent heavy rains were evident high on the mountain as well. Arrived at Muir before 1:30 and not a soul in site. Winds remained calm the entire ascent, and only began to increase later in the afternoon. Descended just before 2:30, which gave the snowfield enough time to corn up nicely approximately 500 ft. below Muir. It appeared had it not been for the recent rains, skiing below Pebble Creek would have been feasible given the evidence of remaining snow from last week's storm.
