Eastern Oregon beta was created by abreibart
HI,

I live in Lake Tahoe but am moving to Susanville, CA, located 2 hours north of Reno, NV and 2 hours east of Lassen NP. The area is 4 hours from Bachelor. Does anyone know of good back country skiing in eastern and central Oregon, that is accessible during the winter?

Thanks,

Andrew

You could try the Steens Mountains. I'm not sure about access but I presume as long as you are willing to walk through sagebrush for a while it should be accessible in winter, but I'm not sure.

I'd try the steens as well.  Good access in the spring, though it may be a bit of a drive.  They are 9000 feet high, so they hold snow well.  You could also try the Pelican Butte area in southern Oregon, and Mt McLoughlin is a good bet in the spring (about 30 miles north of Klamath falls).  Medicine Lake Volcano may be another bet.  Check out Amar's website for some details on these.....

Good luck ;)
