Northern Cal/Tahoe area skiing?

So I am returning to school in Tahoe tomorrow (awww, poor me), but there's one catch: I would really like to find some September/October skiing so I can maybe get a streak going. Mammoth and Shasta are all that come to mind right away, but are there any other good spots maybe a bit closer to Tahoe?

I skied the NE Face of Lassen Peak almost a month ago & it was excellent.  I'd recommend checking it out since you're heading SE of the I-5 corridor.   

Thanks for the suggestions! Lassen sounds like it might be a good bet, might have to check it out.
