August 6, 2006 Coleman Pinnacle

Plenty of snow patches remain for folks who must get August turns.  The trail from Artist Point parking lot to Sholes Glacier is easily hikable in tennis shoes now, and there are several ski options along the way.  North slopes have harder suncups than South.  Here's a shot of the Scotsman skiing a SE facing one.  Lots of hikers today, nice breeze to keep things cool, and glorious views of the North Cascades from Tomyhoi to Three Fingers.

Silas thst was a lot of work to get that 2400 vf od skiing . Cheesy It was worth it but there where times yesterday on the hike out from the North basin across those talus fields when my enthusiasm left me.
August turns are in.

Thanks for the tour. Grin
