July 30, 2006, Table Mountain

Snow has melted rapidly the past two weeks, Artist Point parking lot opened July 27.  Today we found 39 degree temperatures there with light rain.  I dropped off two friends and drove back to the visitor center to guide them down the last remaining snow finger on the north side of Table Mountain by radio and shuttle us all back up for a second run in slightly better weather. 

This might have been our last chance this year to ski right from the car.  Could not see over toward Ptarmigan ridge and Coleman pinnacle, but recent reports indicate good snow remains there, pray for continued cool and wet weather.
