July 8, 2006, Sunrise Chutes, going fast

After a fine day last Sunday, Dave M and I went back for a second helping today. I was amazed and how little snow was left. We checked out Dege peak from the hairpin, but only a bit at the bottom was left. All of the chutes just up from the main parking lot were melted out - not skiable at all. We headed west and found a couple of reasonably good chutes where the Huckleberry Creek trail forks off. From the valley we were able to climb up to some good runs that didn't reach all the way to the top of the ridge. We saw some skiers heading back from Burroughs reporting reasonable snow there.
I found a nice chute west of Antler. It's located on the trail from Sunrise to Dege where the trail intersects with the ridge trail.
Only turns in this bowl today.
