June 22, Mt Shasta, Giddy Giddy to Avy Gulch

On Thursday morning I met up with Jonathan and Ben Shefftz for several days of focused skiing on Mt Shasta. The objective today was a day trip. Jonathan and I headed up Giddy Giddy gulch with a plan to drop over Casaval ridge into Avy Gulch. Ben headed straight up Avy Gulch. We skinned up Giddy Giddy gulch, then up Casaval ridge until there was no more continuous snow we could skin up. This was around 10,400 per the GPS.

From here we skied down the ridge:


Until we came to a shot that would drop us into Avy Gulch at the point of 50/50 flat. Jonathan skiing down to 50/50:

From here I headed back to town so I could get online and do some work, while Jonathan headed up avy gulch to meet with Ben and do more skiing.
