June 11, 2006 Foss Peak, Tatoosh
« on: 06/11/06, 11:47 PM »

Ron, Jeanette, Mark, Danny, Rick, Patri, and I toured the Tatoosh from Reflection Lakes via The Castle and Foss Peak, returning to a 2nd car dropped at Stevens Canyon road just east of our starting point.  Conditions were excellent corn above 5600', becoming slush below with moderate sun cups.  The treewells warrant some attention on the approach and exit, but in all the route is in good form.

The forecast had called for afternoon thundershowers, but we basked in bluebird skies all morning and then some welcome afternoon clouds brought relief from the blazing sun.

The highlight of the day was skiing the summit pitch, but the best overall turns to be had were on the NNW aspect of Foss Peak at ~6200'.  As always, Ron guided us through the trees right on target to our 2nd car - sweet!

A great day, great company, great turns, great views...  Smiley
