After spending the weekend getting the boat out of winter storage while most of our skiing friends enjoyed skiing on Saturday, we decided a midweek ski before the temperatures increased would be fun. As Joe and others have reported, the coverage at Chinook is excellent. We spent a few hours skiing on the NW aspects above Tipsoo Lake.  The suncups on the steeper slopes are rather shallow but are getting larger as the terrain flattens near the lake. We had about 1" ski penetration on our descents which was ideal.  After skiing, we drove east along highway 410 towards Yakima.  I had forgotten how beautiful the river and surronding hillsides are with the wildflowers blooming.  It wore us out and required a couple hour nap along the American River.  Being retired ski bums is very tiring at our age.

That is one of my favorite drives down the pass.
I have often swam in the super cold American River and rested on the beaches.
Glad you topped it off with a little siesta.
