May 29 Yakima Peak

After staying the night up at the Crystal Mountain dorms drying off our wet clothes for a 3 day excursion to Glacier basin we decided to get some turns up on Yakima Peak . So we were in the Yakima peak parklot around 9 AM with bad visability and slide prone snow so at first we were planning on making it out to the deadwood lakes but the traverse would cause huge wet slides that would make it all the way to the road so instead we hiked to the Yakima saddle then up the main colour to the summit and after waiting for a few minutes the visability became somewhat better (good enough to see down the most technical parts) then we tryed to find a good route off the ridge down into the tipso lake bowl but got stuck on a rather big cliff band. So after a hour of boot pack traversing we found a chute that we poot packed up to the summit to find that we were back to the spot we had started from so we took a final line down the same chute down to a flat right below the saddle and booted it back up to the saddle then down to the car the snow was soft in wet but very responsive .
