With the white river campground just open and a storm front coming in we decided to beat the crowds out to the Glacier basin so we started hiking in late Friday night. It was miserable rain in the White Rivers valley hiking on the trail but there is snow at the base of the trail with the occasional dirt patch when the trail was next to the river. Saturday we dug out a snow cave in the basin and got rested for a full day of riding on sunday. So we spent a cold wet night in our snowcave to wake up to about 6 inches of fresh so we started our warm up hike up the 3rd burrough to a nice looking straight shot into the valley which took us about a hour and a half to summit. So we got our geear ready to descend and let a friend take the 1st turn and to our surprise he caused a huge wet slide that shot down the slope with bone crushing force so we carefully rode one at a time into the basin and made the decision to not take anymore chances in the conditions and rode 2/3s of the way down the trail before it got unrideable all in all a great tour too bad the visabilty was horrible
