May 21, 2006, Alpental

5/21/06 - Sunday morning at Alpental. Trekkered & snowshoed up starting at 0830 under broken clouds, and warm temps. Made it to the top of Armstrong Chair at 11, and the weather switched in 5 minutes to solid overcast, windy & cold so we sheltered in the lee of the liftshack for a bite of lunch. Snow has melted out considerably since last weekend due to it being very warm & sunny all week long with dirt up to the slopestart and dirt patches (95% snow)up to the top of Sessel.
Above that it was still great coverage with just a few rocks starting to poke out. Then we skied/boarded down Debbies Gold.  30 minutes earlier would have made it perfect. LOTS of thick tree-tar buildup on the boards though, time for citrusolve base cleaner.  Kerry, Chad & Karrie.
