May 7, 2006, Washington Pass-Birthday Tour

This tour turned out to be more of work out, with visibility a little less than desirable due to the humidity. However, there were a few nice turns to be had.

We parked at the hair pin and made our way up to the spires col and then down to the Copper basin.  We had intentions of descending the Maple Leaf Coloir, but when we got there the cornice was a bit more than we expected.  We may have been able to gain entry if we had a cable saw to cut the cornice. We made what I believe to be the wise decision and continued the rest of the B-day tour via the normal descent back to the hair pin turn.

The Maple Leaf Coloir looked to have some fine turns if one should gain access below the cornice. Good Luck
