We skinned up at 9am, under bright, sunny skies. Lots of great fresh snow (3-4 inches). The views of Mt Catherine and Radio Pk were stunning, bluebird skies for the first time in ages, but the many, many wet slides we could see and the NWAC report made it pretty obvious it wasn't a day for anything steep. Carefully carved really nice snow to the bottom of the valley, toured back up and then ran a few laps of Hyak proper, as clouds and then snow came in. Saw another TAY'er- "tall guy" (?) aka Jeff. Good times! Although, I am shocked they are closed, given the amazing coverage everywhere!
Hi korup. Good to meet you, too. The snow was good for some fine turns on a great April day. After Charles' post on Rampart Ridge, I kept looking across the valley and wondering...perhaps another time.
