Josh and I headed up for a quick jaunt...we got an early bird start around noon ;D
We zig-zagged our way to the top of point 6654 in decent visibility but lots o'snow flurries. We saw 2 skiers descend on our way up. I had lots of learning to do with the side hill traversing on the split today...there were a few scary for me spots, but way better than snowshoes would have been.
When we got to the top and were setting up for our descent we saw a few more parties emerge from the cement basin side.
Today I was expecting lots of crust. And yes...crust there was. Fortunately, it was mostly covered by 2-6" of fluff. The fluff would slough on the hard crust, but the lower snowpack seemed to be pretty bomber. So, if you didn't carve to hard it was bliss....if you carved a bit deep...then blam...crust-o-matic hardness, but not breakable. Whee!
