Taking son, daughter-in-law and grandkids for their 1st family ski vacation.    The grandkids are a 6yo and twin 4yos.  Grandkids so far have lasted about an hour.   Making a little progress on "Pizza" and "French Fries".   Skied with wife Shellie in late afternoon after letting son and daughter-in-law ski in the morning.   Word to the wise for presidents weekend family trips, be sure to book kids lessons and childcare at the same time you book accommodations-- we found them all booked up two weeks in advance.  I have experience teaching other people's kids, but kids behave differently and learn more effectively when they are in a group of peers

Skiing conditions have been excellent.  9 inches new on the 18th,  so not stereotypical New England ski conditions,  not edge tuning required between runs.

So far we've sampled green and blue cruiser runs.  Well groomed and smooth.   New snow covered up any underlying ice.

Sort far Loon seems like a decent family oriented ski resort.   I would have preferred Big White, BC, but since the kiddos live in Harlem,  2 airline tickets from SEATAC beat 5 tickets from JFK.

This afternoon much progress was made with 6yo going for 6 hike up runs on a 6 foot high bump at the base, then 8 runs on the magic carpet and 3 runs on the beginner chair.

Nice to hear of your trip at Loon with the grandkids. Our son lives in Stratham, NH and he took his 3 sons to Loon with season passes for years. The young men are now 15, 18 and 21 and they have seasons passes at Cannon. They will be visiting us later this month. They will probably ski 1 or 2 runs with us before they're off doing their thing skiing more challenging lines, as it should be. ;)

Yes as his grammie was lamenting today,  "he's almost at my level now"

Two more runs on the beginner chair this AM and then we rode the quad a couple times down it's "family zone" green run, then its easiest blue run and into the lodge for some lunch.  Then we rode the gondola and took the "family zone"  green run off the gondola.   He has noticed the kid oriented terrain park /obstacle course off to the side off the "family zone" run lower down and expressed interest.   Well maybe next trip, we head back to Harlem tomorrow.

One of the 4 yos finally agreed to try her skis again (after the lifts had closed)
