02 01 2020 Silver Fir was created by weaver
Silver Fir Delivers --I got to the parking lot just before noon and promptly toured east to the Hyak cross country trail around and back through Hidden Valley. Back to the Silver Fir chair and began some laps just as the crowd thinned out and the snow cover cooled down to a coarse granular top coat with intermittent graupel showers to top it off. The bumps on the top pitch were low enough to slice through anywhere - oh yeah, and it was not sunny but absolutely clear - great light.
It was soul and funk day (thank you Matt) so food and clothing breaks were backed by Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Sly, and the Brothers Johnson.
To summarize: Curtis Mayfield, Graupel, hi viz -- @ 5 hours of ski magic.

Nice. Well timed. Long lift lines don't matter when you do it right.Â

Sat. afternoon delivered. Gentle temps, no precip, good vis and ZERO crowds. Like, ski right on to Silver Fir - that never happens on a Saturday afternoon.
I took the lower crossover from Hyak to Silver Fir in the morning, right as the rain shut off. It was wild and I was pretty sure it should've been closed so imagine my surprise when I went to return to Hyak to discover both crossovers closed. Oh well, rolled Nordic home for lunch and then went out for some Hyak laps with a locals-only crowd until last chair.
Sunday was a mess. I lost track of how many times I heard the phrase, "I thought nobody would be up here because it's Superbowl Sunday!" I spun more laps in the afternoon on Sat. than I did all day Sunday.
