It was 7 degrees at mid station of Solitude, sunny and no wind. Got on the 8:10am bus and arrived at the Solitude Moonbean Base area within 30 minutes. Took the elevator lift from the base to the upper level for the Moonbeam lift. I liked the arrival area and the short walk to the lift.  We saw fresh untracked powder and realized it would not last long. The 1st run was "YES". Next to the Eagle Express lift, and a local explained the lift did not work yesterday in the powder storm for some reason. "YES" again, plus Jill was happy, happy, happy.

Took the Apex Express for the trail to the Summit Express lift. The Sign said CLOSED. It could be open and they just forget to take down the sign. Skied down and it was closed. OK, lets ski the fringe powder and go back up. As we reached the top of the lift the ski patroller just removed the CLOSED sign. Grown folks skiing/boarding down to get in the first seats. Naturally, Jill and are thoughtful and got on chair #10. Yes, it was very nice skiing powder in the sun. Our 2nd line was OK, but Honeycomb Canyon was still CLOSED during our morning visit. A friend, Dave P, has a thing about Honeycomb Canyon - he flies from Seattle when he sees a storm on route for Solitude. We also have stories of Honeycomb, but not today for us. 3 Hours of powder, sun and cold temperatures, and we took the bus down to our campervan for nap. Tomorrow we'll meet more folks from the SLC area.  ;)
