January 7, 2020 Deer Valley

It has been 16 years since Jill and I skied Deer Valley. I looked at my 2004-2005 Trail Map and compared it to the current trail map. They now have 21 chairs of which 14 are express lifts. They added 2 more lifts plus a new Lady Morgan area. The area is enormous. We tried skiing all the express lifts, but only managed to get 11 of them. The base is at 6,570 and the summit at 9,570. It has twisting trails and trees lined every trail. At the top of the Empire and Lady Morgan lifts, you look west and you can see Park City lifts.

It was a sunny day and with the temperature reaching 35 degrees. No lift lines or crowds. BIG homes of different parts of the resort along some trails. We chatted with a few couples who live here and they mentioned that after the sale of the resort, prices jumped by 18 percent. We used our Ikon pass and really had a wonderful day.

Much better skiing than Park City? Canyons? I never skied it cause I had an Epic Pass each time...Should I. Do you need a fur coat?

At one point in time Deer Valley was the powder gem of the Wasatch, not because of their superior snowfall or terrain but because most of their clientele had no clue how to ski but not so much now that Ikon has taken over.

Jill did notice quite a few fur collars. I was ready for the "hot clothes" on a sunny day like Aspen.😉

We have Epic Local and Ikon Base pass. We will use the Ikon for the upcoming resorts.

We enjoy both areas. The more folks you meet and the more info you hear about the area the more you enjoy it. And as you know, we like meeting new people. We all have our favorite "stashes", but usually we only take someone there or tell them about it if we enjoy their company.
