Myself and two friends decided to poke around in an area new to us and found a few fun low-angle meadows that provided good turns in 14-18" or so of unconsolidated snow, as well as some lurking sharks, a lot of bushwhacking around through deadfall and brush, and some nice misty views of Diamondhead. About what we expected out of the day!
We found what appeared to be burned trees that had been cut down. During a recent(?) fire?  Does anyone know?  Thanks. We called our day “the best of the bad.”

We met a guy in the parking lot who said he had done some brush clearing somewhere along the old XC trail that goes to Mission Ridge, but he wasn't very specific about what he did or where he did it. The fire seemed pretty recent, when we were pushing through the burned deadfall there was a distinct smell of ash. Maybe I was just conflating the snowmobile fumes with ash though.

Blewett has had several fires in the last dozen years. Dead standing trees make good firewood.
