For me, running into an Elk hunter wading in deep snow as we skied by him on Northway. Early November 1983 if I'm not mistaken. In September, there was 6" of snow at an alpine lake we fish & immersed our hands into the lake water to warm them up! I'll have another, thank you.

The ability to tour and ski Mission Ridge in late Sept. / early October qualifies. Maybe come across some huckleberry pickers?
