After a night at the Alpine Campground just below Timberline, I hiked 1200 v.f. to where the snow began at Silcox Hut, which totaled 1500' where the Palmer Lift and I topped out. The upper mountain was bare to above the Hogsback, but the ski area folks have been rationing the white stuff well.
Climbed 4900 v.f., skied 4300' with two assists from a friendly employee and a finish down the dirty ribbon of snow in a creek just east of the trail. Beautiful day and tolerable temps up high due to the snow and a breeze---unlike in the flatlands, where it hit 102 degrees in Portland on the drive home.
143 months o' TAY ;D
Nice August tag, Telemack! You are an oxen for climbing above and beyond the call of duty!! Nice views and snow, though, I am guessing. I've done that morning ski/afternoon broil before, a few years ago at Big Bear Mountain. 28 F at the top; 99 F. in Palm Springs. Way to get Month 143 in style...Postage Stamp, here we come ;-}.......

Yeah, let's talk....
