Yoshiko and I started skinning at 7200 after 5 miles with skis on pack.  Skinned to 8600, was able to ski down to CatEye Lake with two portages.  16 mile round trip.

Wow, that place is gorgeous! I need to visit. Never been. Looks like a nice amount of skiing too.

We got roughly 2000vft of turns  -- if we had been willing to hike out in the dark (or were faster) the Russell can be climbed another 1000vft higher.  We arrived back at the car at sunset -- for us slow pokes it was about 12 hours car to car.
