Spring is here today. In December we skied Beaver Creek and parked at the Elk parking lot for $15 and took the shuttle bus up to Beaver Creek Village. This is where we rode the escalators to get from the village to the Centennial express lift. No more walking up steps. Yes, at our age escalators are wonderful. The base at Beaver Creek is 8,100' and the summit is 11,400'. But on this trip we changed plans and decided to ski the other part of the resort called "Arrowhead Village".

We pulled up to the Arrowhead Village gate and the friendly employee gave us a pass and told us where to park for "free" (novel concept!). From the parking lot we walked about 150' to the village. We boarded the Arrow Bahn express lift at 7400' and rode to the summit at 9100'. It was a partly cloudy day, but the groomed skiing was great. We saw 6 skiers/boarders and 4 employees at the base - restaurant, condos, massive homes, and nobody around. We did a 1700vf run to warm up. Not a bad way to start the day. We rode up and skied over to the Bachelor Gulch express lift. OK, let's do another 1700vf run off Bachelor. We saw nobody to ride with. OK, let's go over to the Strawberry Park express lift. Another 1700vf run.

We looked over at the main part of Beaver Creek, and it was mostly clouds on the summit. We had planned to ski the Larkspur lift area, but on past trips it was sunny and had fresh powder. Today, it was flat light day and the open terrain was not friendly because you could not see. We decided to stay on the Arrowhead side of Beaver Creek. This area has 6 express lifts, and with all the tree-lined runs and spring conditions it was fast skiing on the trails with nobody to worry about skiing near you. We had a wonderful day.

We have learned that there is money in this area with all the homes and apartments and condos. I also "think" that with 14 express lifts at Beaver Creek and the larger number at Vail that Vail has a a special offer with their organization to buy 10 express lifts and get 2 more free! ;)

Great write up, reporting and detail.  Another splendid trip with excellent timing.  Thanks for sharing. Here our sunny days are now a memory, as gray clouds and rain descend, while snow level is hovering upward, 4000+. Gerry H
