Before the next storm arrives we decided to ski some packed powder and groomers. We are in our 70's so it the tickets are pretty cheap. This was our first downhill trip without the campervan and staying in motels. It was a great choice.

Crystal: Our tickets were $22 each at the window. It was a cold but sunny day, and we followed the groomer lines. No crowds and no lift lines. We did see a couple of folks riding off Silver Queen and there were some powder lines for the climbing crew. We enjoyed looking at Powder Bowl and reliving the powder days with snow flying over our faces. No helmets then.

White Pass: Free ticket for Jill (73+) and half price me with the Summit Pass. Our last visit here was years ago when Jill got a sled ride with the Ski Patrol for a blown ACL. One of the photos is of us with the Hogback Mt area in the background - where we used to backcountry ski. Great days. The Couloir Express lift is just wonderful. No lines and we had to wait for someone to ride the chair with us if we wanted company. There are great undulating runs through the trees that we really enjoyed. It was another cold sunny day.

Mission Ridge: Also free with our Summit Passes. Just sign some forms online and receive a midweek season pass. It was another cold day with temps in the mid-teens. The clouds moved in and the early part of the morning we skied off the Liberator lift. When the snow started we skied chair 3 for the tree-lined trails. No lift lines and we were at times the only people on the trails. The storm was starting and by Saturday the new snow will be deep. The groomed trails were great. The locals will know where the rocks are when the new powder arrives and covers them. We were early enough that the road over Blewett and Snoqualmie Passes was OK.

A nice trip between storms before we have some more powder days. ;)

You are still a young man. Check out the link for George Jedinoff 36 years left if I get there.
