I knew better than to try a low elevation tour, but I was driving to the coast anyway... Gave up quickly in the Kings Ridge area, as it was all hard, breakable crust. Beautiful - blue skies came out, but the down was atroscious! After quickly picking up speed on an almost flat logging road, I frantically used poles, wedges, and turning uphill to slow down any desperate way I could! Very similar to my first day of skiing 50 years ago...
