With low expectations for snow quality, it was another day of exploration, taking the camera for a walk, and forest-bathing for the soul.
Skiable snow, on a road, began ~3500'. Ski conditions were borderline-atrocious, perhaps especially for road-skiing. Skiable coverage in the forest perhaps began at 4.8k. Topped out just over 5k in the sun.
Substantially less surface hoar was apparent than I found Saturday at Snoqualmie Pass. Only a few spots of 2-4 mm feathers. Almost all clear-to-sky surfaces were refreezing into a slick, and somewhat-supportable, crust. At about 5k, on a steep NNW aspect, the crust seemed to have begun to break down into 1-1.5 cm of facets (or SH overlain with a thin warming crust).
Super glad to see that kamtron found better turns at higher elevations!
