With 'hopes for stability' to ski something on the N. Face of Snoqualmie this morning for Dawn Patrol, between the NWAC forecast, new snow and other reports of skier triggered wind slabs on the West Face of Red Mtn yesterday we agreed to add alternate plans on our own observations while breaking trail.  Many hasty pits up the Phantom Trees showing poor to ok bonding, increasing winds and various touchy pocket slabs above the old growth at 5,300ft consecrated our decision to play it safe and indulge in the perfect 20-30cm of new since yesterday back down the Phantom Trees.  Not summiting gave me time for 'community service' by cutting the suspect cornice guarding the top of the the Exit Shoulder out of the cirque for anyone that may be skiing the Slot, Snot or Crooked in the next day or two.  Travel with caution and enjoy.

sounds fun! Nice work! Did you use a wire? A rope? Cornice interiors can freeze quite solidly, making cutting a challenge...
Also... Did it crater, disintegrate or cause anything else to move?

Ha, those smiley faces and skull and crossbones were you guys then!  We set out just behind you around 6 this morning.
