On sunday, 5 of us attempted to get onto the muir snowfield. The gate opened up at 9am. Arrived at the paradise parking lot with about 10 other cars. Started skinning right from the car. Great snow and skin track down low. Signs of life started to diminsh below pan point as we had to break trail. There were about 4 other skiers higher then us, but we couldn't see their tracks. Above pan point, we found the usual mixed conditions: wind slab powder, ice crust, and scowered ridges. We got to about 7500 feet. We found a pocket of snow to ski above pan point. Took two runs down the headwall below pan point, very good deep powder found there.

Did I forget to mention how windy and snowy it was up there.
I'm surprised Ron and I didn't run into you in the parking lot at Paradise or at Longmire since we were waiting for the gate to open too. However, when we got to Paradise, we were parked down by the lower Paradise road entrance so we didn't have to walk that far to the snow ;D
Thanks for your report, we thought that it would be pretty wind scoured up towards Muir since the telemetry from most of the areas, the day/night before showed high winds. We lucked out again in heading towards the Mazama Bowl.
