After spending the morning testing downhill performance of Alien RS ski ballet slippers on lift accessed runs, I took an hour to test them skinning up the road on the north side of the pass. Wow they are light, and so was the 16-20" deep powder in the trees on the way down. I didn't venture onto open slopes, but did see a group digging a pit a few hundred vertical feet below the ridge crest. Look for their report on NWAC observations page?
