With the given high avalanche danger, my partner and I elected to ski some of the trees coming down from Lake Vahalla. Some tasty creek crossings brought us to the clearings at the bottom of SW Litchenberg, where we skirted into the trees and made our way up. Plenty of whmupf kept us on toes, and we knew that any avalanche terrain was out of the question. While skinning up into edge of 20 m by 20 m clearing, a giant whumpf made us jump. From 15 m away we sympathetically collapsed 2.5 feet of snowpack on a 25 degree. Dug a quick pit to analyze the layer, and quickly ripped our skins to remove any hint of exposure. Skiing down was excellent with a right side up feel. With only a tad of skiing, we decided to take the most Cascadian creek crossing back.
