4 of us decided to make an exploratory tour down to Snow Lake on monday. We actually took the lift up to the top of Alpental and skied Big Trees down to Source Lake. The ski down was on the much maligned manky mush that has been a reoccuring theme in recent posts. However, the 500 or so vf from the divide down to Snow Lake were actually rather nice: somewhat unconsolidated snow and no crust. We then skied out onto the lake, admired the run down Mt. Roosevelt, and skinned out. The ski back down source lake basin was about as bad as can be, with intermittent boiler plate and grabby ice crust. Yikes.
