Tele skiers for Whistler Peak to Valley Race
« on: 11/06/18, 11:22 AM »

Hi, all.  I'm looking for 3 telemark skiers (at least one female) to join me for the Whistler Peak to Valley race. It seems like an interesting event and I think it would be fun to enter a tele team.  I'm not a racer so there are no speed requirements and no pressure; let's do it just for kicks, drop some (a lot?) knees, and then apres at Dusty's afterwards :).

It takes place Feb 22 (Fri) and Feb 23 (Sat).  More details here.

Some context on me in case it matters:  I've been tele'ing for ~ 8 years, backcountry skiing for ~ 10 years, no racing experience.

Drop me a message if you'd like to join (or know someone who would).

Cheers,
Shawn

4734 vertical feet on an icy race course with 180 gates?  How far between park benches to rest on?  As a 53 year old (23 years bending knee) tele skier, I have to say, you sir, are my new hero.

Ha!  Thanks.  I definitely won't be setting any speed records, and I'll no doubt be looking for those park benches.

As a 53-year-old dropping knees for 23 years, *you* sir, are my new hero.  My body won't endure tele turns for that long (so I need to squeeze in these types of ideas while it still will :-) )

In the registration I'm not seeing anything about category-- so it doesn't look like there is a separate category for freeheelers or judges to penalize paramarking

You're right:  there are no categories, and we can paramark as much as desired/needed.
