I lured runcle out from his Olympic mountain kingdom for a run to Rainier for September turns.
Paradise and above were crowded for a September weekday. We started hitting new snow above Pan and our hopes rose.
We hiked to about 7800', crossed right on scree and scrambles to the Paradise, and skinned to 8400'. Clouds rolled in & out, but vis never dropped for more than a few minutes. Traversing right from the glacier we got 1000' of turns before the final rollover to Pebble Creek. The old dirty snow was almost all covered with 2-5" of heavy two-day fresh; excellent snow for September. The storms last week were a gift in the lowlands and a hoot and holler in the alpine!
Above Pebble Creek on the descent I saw a guy skinning, with a sun hat who looked familiar; and so I met Amar Andalkar and thanked him for all his adventures and reports.  I wonder when his Pacific Rim skiers guide will get printed???
This was month 132 for me: 11 years of TAY. I'll never be Tom Swedko, but it's all mine ;D
New snow on old snow. What a treat.
Thanks for the report!

Not bad for September. Well worth the crossing.

Now that is beautiful!

What happened to my head???

What happened to my head???

He lost his head with a little fresh snow
His uptracks soft, down turns sublime
Soon found his head but lost his mind.

Nice verse for someone with such Rusty Knees....
BTW Don, what happened with your accident last spring?  Fractures?  Surgery?  Blown TAY streak?  I have heard nada, except you said once you are back in action.

I'll tell you the story at Octayberfest.  Torn quad tendons- both knees,  double surgery Jan 30.  TAY streak also severed at 135, missed February.  New streak is 7 months :-)

That was a great day to be out!  Way better than expected  ;D
You must have been the two headed up as we were headed down.
