I was the only moron carrying skis up from Paradise on Friday, probably because this was a high investment low reward day. Started around 8:45 and hit Camp Muir at 12:45. Put skis on after McClure Rock. The snowfield is heavily suncupped and dirty, which made for less than ideal skinning. The ski down was more challenging than fun due to large suncups and inconsistent snow texture. Worth it anyway, because now I've checked off August. The scenery was beautiful despite the wildfire smoke. Lots of wildflowers and marmots!
Thanks for the update on conditions and nice pictures. September turns will be "hiking with skis".

Good info.  This next hot spell won't help, duh.

Soon we TAYers must "embrace the suck" of a lean September.  Last Friday Cliff Mass predicted a moderate El Nino for the start of the winter.  October could be old snow rather than freshies up high  :(
