With this heat I thought skiing on the 1st would be proper (and first TR of the month WOO HOO), and I recruited runcle for company and local knowledge.
Elk Mtn. chutes are down to 2-300'.  We only saw the top of the line off Pt. 6536.
There are several micro-patches near the end of the Obstruction Point Road.  An obvious one of 200 v.f. appears to the left/north of the road at a great viewpoint just before the final curve.  We settled for E-Z and soon headed off on the approach, a moderate 300 yards and almost flat, my first ski "approach" in sandals    :D
6 runs were had in fine, cooler temperatures.  Lunch was actually cold in the shade!  No mosquitoes (some mean greenflies that BITE), lots of flowers, only a bit of smoke haze, great sights of Olympus and the Bailey Range.
Sadly, this patch is more melted out this summer than in previous Septembers.  It isn't in most people's back yard, but it is skiable snow less than 1/4 mile from the car  8)
Maybe runcle will favor us with some visual documentation.....

Fine form "Tele" Mack :)

Micro patches trump no patches AN time! Well done, Tele...
