I was lucky enough to be invited on a tour combined with a birthday. I'm very busy right now, and it was a stretch to make it work, but I was able to work most of the day. We left from the park and ride (big Y) at 19:00 and set up camp in the parking lot just before dark. I wasn't even sure I should put on my rain fly, but sure glad I did, it rained and stormed most of the night. On the trail by 06:45, skis on at Peggy's Pond, rain and drizzle till about the 6000 level, then a new term for me; white rain (a Stevens pass term I guess). Real snow by 7000 and if it were not for the fog, it would have been a perfect ski on top. Two inches of new made for some truly great turns. Met a crew on their way down from climbing, and they said they had 60-70 mph winds and a sleepless night.

I hope I'm skiing like this on my 70th birthday! Chester's a badass!

Screw the June gloom!  Bravo.  Really like the shot with Cathedral Rock in the background.  Great job wedging it into the schedule - gotta love the PNW where this stuff is readily accessible.  Daniel still on my list to ski.
