My annual pilgrimage to Hwy 20.
Left Blue Lake TH at 8:00 am.
Suncuppy skinning
Got to top of Cornice at 9:40 am
Couple of young guys from Leavenworth at the top.
Said hello and dropped ahead of them.
Madison Avenue was slushy but skied OK.
Skin up to Copper Creek Col was uneventful.
Leavenworth guys went to the other col on the skinners left.
Snow has melted at Copper Creek Col so you have to rock hop down about 150 ft.
Snow through the larches was suncuppy but skied fine.
Kept skis on all the way to the hairpin.
3hr 45 mins which was fast for me... new boots are like elf slippers!
Skier descending from Spire Gully drove me back to my car.... Thanks Rory.
Won't last much longer... glad I got it in time.

Is that a haiku?

No ... this is a haiku.

Suncuppy skinning upwards,
Slushy delights through the larches,
crow with elf slippers.

Thanks for the report, sounds like I had better get cracking!

Curious about the elf slippers.

Conditions were nice on Sunday. I was with a non-skiing friend, so we just hiked to Wamihaspi (Blue Pk) saddle. But there were lots of skiers doing the route, and snow conditions looked pretty good. It was skiable car to car, presumably with some scrambling over the Copper Peak saddle.

Copper Peak saddle looking toward Wallabee late Sunday morning.
